Considering that less research exists on
the effectiveness of DTT with the toddler population, this research focused on
measuring the effectiveness of this intervention with toddlers with autism spectrum disorders and
developmental delays. The questions at the center of this research are:
1. Is DTT effective for skill acquisition with toddlers with autism spectrum disorders and other developmental disabilities in an early intervention program?
2. Are there differences based on disability, age of the child, on the skills learned and mastered, and length of time in an educational program?
3. Should DTT be considered an effective early intervention strategy for optimizing skill acquisition in the public school setting with developmentally disabled toddlers?
